Oh... my... freaking... GOD
I'm not one to live and die by my comic's Web stats (you in the back, stop laughing!), but I like to glance at them every so often to see if I'm maintaining the same level of cheerful mediocrity. If I recall correctly, up until yesterday, my average daily pageviews for the month of October were around 1400 a day. Solid, respectable viewership for a comic strip that's just a hobby.

Then, today, I began a crossover event with Something Positive, a strip that has, shall we say, a slightly larger readership than "Scandal Sheet!" does. I admit I was curious, so I clicked over and checked the stats just now. My jaw hit the floor so hard I have carpet burns.

Normally the most recent day's totals are really small, because they represent less than half of the day. Not today. Today, instead of the couple of hundred pageviews I normally have for the current day, there were nearly 23,000. That's nearly 40 percent of my TOTAL pageviews for the entire month.

I feel light-headed. I knew Som*Pos has a massive audience, but I don't think I had ANY idea just how massive or I'm sure I would never have had the audacity to suggest the crossover in the first place. I feel like every opening band that ever got tapped to tour with the Stones.

You'll be fine, I'm sure - don't stress over it. I had a zillion and a half people visit my site when I did the original crossover with him, and about a quarter of those stuck around - things started picking up a lot *more* when I did the February storyline, though.

By the way, I don't know if I ever told you how much I liked that storyline. It was some really powerful stuff - and aside from the great writing, I loved the way you denoted the flashback-within-a-flashback by going from color to sepia to B/W. Fantastic.

It seemed like the easiest way to keep things delineated at the time, and worked surprisingly well. Hope you liked the sepia-tones, because we're in for another week or two's worth of it shortly. Shh. It's a SEEECRET!

I found you because of a post in [info]grammar_whores, oddly enough. People do love the Grammar Nazi.

Well, I'm staying.

I've found it funny so far (having spent today reading through the archives).

Also, if you have no objections, I'm going to friend you...

And do I gather from some of the references in your comic that you have at least a passing familiarity with Vampire: The Masquerade and/or other White-Wolf: The Marketing products?

And here's me egotistically hoping some of them like my name-(if not personality-)sake. Squeeee!! And you didn't even tell me it was gonna happen, you tart. Very very awesome, happy your comic is getting the views it deserves (and shall KEEP, damnit)!

Funny you should mention the beauteous Ms. Masello - I got an e-mail today from a "Something Positive" fan who clicked over this morning for the crossover, stayed to read the archives, and liked what she saw. She e-mailed to say that Ito was her favorite character, because - get this - she herself is also half-Italian and half-Chinese, and like Ito's parents, has gotten into arguments about where pasta was invented. *grin*

I didn't tell ANYBODY, because I didn't want to jinx it before it was a done deal.
